PPODS holds monthly meetings to provide families of children with Down Syndrome an opportunity to meet each other, ask questions and exchange ideas. Guest speakers on topics such as financial and estate planning, speech therapy and the IEP process are frequently invited to meetings to provide information and spark discussion. Babysitting for children is provided at most of our meetings.
Additionally, PPODS offers family social opportunities including the annual Buddy Walk and Holiday Party. In the near future we hope to provide additional social and educational events specifically designed for teens, siblings and new parents.
PPODS families and Board members are a fantastic resource. We don’t have all the answers, but we might have the one you are looking for. If you need to know about services in the area, where to find more information on a medical condition related to Down Syndrome, or how to get a free pass to a National Park for your loved one with Down Syndrome, please come to a PPODS meeting and ask. There’s a good chance that we may be able to provide you with the information you need or point you in the right direction.
